Ochlerotatus sierrensis

Ochlerotatus sierrensis is an uncommon mosquito species in Teton County, but is important because it has been implicated in the transmission of dog heartworm.  Oc. sierrensis has multiple generations each year and its larvae are found in flooded tree cavities.  Image from Carpenter & LaCasse, 1955.
